Nasdaq Calypso

Nasdaq Calypso is a cross-asset, front-to-back platform for capital markets and treasury. A single integrated system runs the full trade lifecycle — front-office trading and pricing, middle-office risk and P&L, and back-office confirmation, settlement and accounting — across cash and derivatives. Formerly Calypso Technology, then part of Adenza, it is now sold by Nasdaq. This guide covers the architecture, the asset coverage, and where it fits in the stack.

What is Nasdaq Calypso?

Calypso is a cross-asset trading, risk and processing platform used by banks, central banks, clearing houses, asset managers and corporate treasuries. Rather than stitching together separate front-office, risk and settlement systems, Calypso puts the whole trade lifecycle on one integrated data and processing model — a trade booked in the front office flows through the same object to risk, collateral, operations and finance without re-keying.

The product has a long lineage: it began as Calypso Technology (founded 2001), became part of Adenza after the 2021 merger with AxiomSL, and moved to Nasdaq when Nasdaq acquired Adenza in 2023. It is now marketed as Nasdaq Calypso within Nasdaq's financial-technology division, offered both on-premises and as a cloud-ready, modular deployment.

Calypso is not a payments or messaging system — it is a capital-markets processing platform. It generates settlement instructions and payments that are then executed over rails such as SWIFT, RTGS systems and CSDs. See Settlement & Clearing for the rails it hands off to.
