Replacement Amounts
What it is
When a transaction completes for less than authorized — a partial reversal, or a completion after an estimated preauth — DE 95 carries the actual amounts: new transaction amount (12), new settlement amount (12), and two C/D-prefixed fee corrections (9 each). The issuer adjusts the hold to the replacement amount.
Specification reference
Defined in ISO 8583:1987 (base). Card networks publish their own dialect tables (Visa BASE I / V.I.P., Mastercard CIS) that refine formats, lengths, and — for private-use elements — the entire layout. Always confirm against the interface specification you implement.
