What does POS entry mode 07 mean?
Contactless chip (EMV contactless). The card, phone or wearable was tapped and the transaction used the EMV contactless chip application (Visa qVSDC, Mastercard M/Chip contactless). Chip data and the ARQC travel in DE 55.

What it means for the transaction
- Same cryptographic strength as contact chip; Apple Pay and Google Pay taps also use 07.
- PIN or on-device verification (CDCVM) applies above the local contactless limit.
- Usually 071 (PIN-capable terminal) or 072 (no PIN pad, for example many unattended terminals).
How 07 appears in DE 22
In ISO 8583 field 22 the first two digits are the PAN entry mode and the third is the terminal's PIN entry capability. EMV tag 9F39 carries only the two-digit entry mode.
