What it is
Track 2 Equivalent Data mirrors the ISO/IEC 7813 magnetic-stripe track 2 held inside the chip: primary account number, a field separator (hex D), expiry date, service code, and discretionary data. It lets acquirers build a track-2 field for the authorisation message from chip data.
Because it contains the PAN and expiry it is sensitive cardholder data and must be protected under PCI DSS.
Where it appears
Read from the card record files (per the AFL) after GET PROCESSING OPTIONS.
