What does POS entry mode 10 mean?
Credential on file. The merchant used a card or token it had stored earlier (a credential on file) instead of capturing it again — one-click checkout, subscriptions, top-ups and other stored-credential payments.

What it means for the transaction
- Must be paired with the stored-credential indicators and, for merchant-initiated payments, the original transaction’s network ID.
- Lets issuers recognise stored-credential payments instead of treating them as new card-not-present transactions.
- The PIN digit is usually 0 or 2, as no PIN is entered.
How 10 appears in DE 22
In ISO 8583 field 22 the first two digits are the PAN entry mode and the third is the terminal's PIN entry capability. EMV tag 9F39 carries only the two-digit entry mode.
