Overview

PYUSD is PayPal’s dollar stablecoin, issued under a NYDFS trust charter by Paxos. It started as a consumer wallet asset inside PayPal/Venmo but its significance for payment engineers is the settlement side: it is one of the few coins accepted for settlement by both Visa and Mastercard.

PayPal also uses PYUSD for B2B payouts and cross-border disbursements, making it a practical example of one company running the same token across consumer, merchant, and network-settlement contexts.

Always verify contract addresses against the issuer’s official documentation before use — lookalike tokens with identical symbols are a common scam vector.
